From paper delivery orders to Digital Deeds: what WDSC 2026 confirmed about cask ownership
A paper delivery order can be replicated a thousand times. A Digital Deed can not. When a cask filled in 2005 has, in many cases, changed hands more often than the people now holding it can prove, there’s a tension. That tension, between an industry built on paper and an industry now operating at the scale of one million privately owned casks in Scotland alone, was the conversation at Worldwide Distilled Spirits Conference 2026 last week. The 2026 theme, Excellence in Science and Innovation: Delivering Tomorrow's Spirits , pulled distillers, scientists, warehousekeepers and regulators into the Edinburgh ICC for four days of talks on the operational reality we’re facing today. We were there as exhibitors, sponsors, and invited to speak on stage on our topic, “From Paper to Blockchain: Rethinking Cask Ownership in the Spirits Industry”

We’re headed to the Worldwide Distilled Spirits Conference 2026
Talking traceability, cost efficiency and compliance at WDSC 2026. This May, we’re headed to the Worldwide Distilled Spirits Conference (WDSC) from 4th-7th May at the International Conference Centre in Edinburgh. This conference only happens once every two years and when it does it’s a big event. We’re thrilled to be there, not only exhibiting and sponsoring the event, but also, we've been invited to present on a topic we’re passionate about, “From Paper to Blockchain : Rethinking Cask Ownership in the Spirits Industry”. Our COO, Stuart Maxwell will tackle the big issues he’s seeing in making the transition from analogue to digital and why it’s essential for any distillery looking to be more efficient, run smarter and leaner and in many cases, do more with less.
